Constipation is uncomfortable to have and can be uncomfortable to talk about.

It is, however, one of the most common digestive issues Americans experience.

In the newest episode of Prescribed Listening, Dr. Benjamin Hart, a gastroenterologist at The University of Toledo Medical Center, provides tips on what you can do to get — and keep — your bowels moving.

Beyond constipation, the episode focuses on who can benefit from a gluten-free diet and causes and treatment options for irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux.

Hart also discusses the latest guidelines for colon cancer screenings and when you should see a physician for other gastrointestinal issues.

Season four of Prescribed Listening, which focuses on some of the most commonly Googled health questions, concludes this Friday with the season’s eighth and final episode.
