UToledo Online recently received a 2022 Catalyst Award in the Training and Professional Development category for their significant contribution to the education industry.

Xiao and Gleckler accepted UToledo Online’s 2022 Catalyst Award in the Training and Professional Development category on behalf of the team during the Catalyst Award ceremonies earlier this month in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Mingli Xiao, associate director of Instructional Design and Development, and Dr. Melissa Gleckler, associate director of Help Desk and Educational Technology Support, attended the ceremonies and accepted the team’s award.

“The technical support team at UToledo Online works tirelessly to provide infrastructure, help desk support and customized technical training that enriches faculty and, ultimately, the student experience,” Gleckler said. “This well-established foundation proved critical in the unexpected transition to remote learning in March 2020, in which the team provided immediate, innovative solutions that included emergency workshops, live webinars, video demonstrations, quick start guides and infrastructure changes to assist hundreds of instructors with their comfort, confidence and capability with learning technologies. We are proud to have the collective efforts of UToledo Online globally recognized with a Catalyst award.”

“At UToledo Online, every instructional designer is committed to helping faculty succeed in course design and online teaching,” Xiao said. “I am especially proud of the Pathway Program that we developed, which trained more than 900 instructors in making a difference in student learning. This award is a great honor and acknowledgment of the UToledo Online team endeavors.”

Founded in 2005, the annual Catalyst Awards recognize and honor innovation and excellence in the Anthology global community of practice, where millions of educators and learners work every day to redefine what is possible when leveraging technology. Winners are selected by a cross-functional team of Anthology experts and represent the very best in their field. The Catalyst Awards were expanded when Anthology and Blackboard combined in 2021.

“We’re pleased to honor this year’s Catalyst Award winners for their commitment to improving the educational experience for all learners through EdTech and sharing these insights with the broader community,” said Jim Milton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Anthology. “We’re proud to partner with institutions who are innovating to advance student success.”
