High blood pressure and unhealthy cholesterol levels are two of the biggest risk factors for heart disease — the No. 1 killer in the United States.

In the final episode of Prescribed Listening’s fourth season, Dr. Kevin Phelps digs into some of the most asked questions about blood pressure and cholesterol.

Phelps, a family medicine specialist at The University of Toledo Medical Center, explains why our bodies need cholesterol, the difference between “good” cholesterol and “bad” cholesterol and the lifestyle changes people can make to lower their blood pressure and cholesterol without medication.

Phelps also discusses his decision to get board certified in lifestyle medicine and explains why many of us may have more control over our health than we think we do.
