The University of Toledo Ritter Planetarium will screen “Tales of the Maya Skies” in August.

“Tales of the Maya Skies,” narrated by Latin Grammy Award winner Lila Downs, explores the astronomical achievements of the Maya. Their sophisticated understanding of astronomy, architecture and mathematics enabled them to predict solstices, solar eclipses, weather patterns and planetary movements and to make sense of the world around them.

Appropriate for general audiences, “Tales of the Maya Skies” will screen at 8:30 p.m. Fridays through Aug. 29.

Admission to planetarium shows is $8 for adults and $6 for children, senior citizens and UToledo community members. Children ages 3 and younger are free. Parking is free in Area 1N within 45 minutes of the beginning of planetarium shows.
