UToledo Hosting Aug. 21 Graduate Research Training Workshop

The University of Toledo’s T32 Graduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (G-RISE) will host a workshop titled “Mastering Presentation Essentials” on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The workshop is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Health Education Building Room 105 on Health Science Campus. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required.

The University of Toledo’s T32 Graduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (G-RISE) will host a workshop titled “Mastering Presentation Essentials” on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

T32, G-RISE, is a nationally recognized graduate training program administered by the NIH’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

This workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to deliver compelling scientific presentations, and participants will learn how to utilize the four P’s of presentations, construct an audience-targeted presentation, select attention-capturing titles, use visuals effectively, maintain audience engagement, ethical acknowledgement and craft strong data-based conclusions.

The workshop leaders include Dr. Mahasin A. Osman, an associate professor in the Department of Medicine and principal investigator and director of the UToledo T32 G-RISE TMCD Program, and Dr. Christopher M. Wojciechowski, an expert in educational research and measurement, with experience in teaching and tutoring academic skills. Additionally, William Ryan, a Ph.D. candidate in the G-RISE program, will share his insights from presenting his research at notable conferences.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop and a copy of their academic presentation for an interactive editing and review session.

The next event in the G-RISE workshop series is the Mental Health Seminar, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Health Education Building Room 105 on Health Science Campus.

This seminar addresses the mental health challenges faced by graduate students and provide strategies for maintaining well-being during their academic journey. To learn more, visit the GRISE website.
