The Toledo women’s volleyball program will hold its third-annual Blue-Gold Match Friday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. in Savage Arena.

Admission is free for the event, and 100 T-shirts will be given to the first 100 fans.

“This is going to be a good opportunity for our team to play in a match-like setting,” Toledo Head Coach Greg Smith said. “We’ve had a good preseason and have had a chance to grow as a team and continue the progress we made last spring.”

The Rockets are returning nine letterwinners from last year’s squad, including junior middle blocker Dakota Harkins, who ranked seventh in the Mid-American Conference with a team-best .321 attack percentage.

UT will open its 2012 campaign when it travels to Columbus to face Houston, Ohio State and Oregon as part of the Buckeyes’ Sports Imports Classic Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24 and 25.

Toledo’s first home action will take place with the Rocket Classic when it hosts Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State and Memphis Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7 and 8.
