The University of Toledo Judith Herb College of Education Alumni Affiliate is sponsoring its inaugural shoe collection drive for elementary school students in the Toledo area.

Donations of gym and dress shoes will go to schools needing some extra help to launch students into the new academic year.

The drive is to collect new or gently used gym shoes and brown or black dress shoes in youth sizes and small adult sizes.

School supplies —pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, backpacks, tissues, etc. — also will be accepted.

Shoes and supplies can be dropped off at the Driscoll Alumni Center Room 2001 on Main Campus Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during August.

The UT Judith Herb College of Education Alumni Affiliate will hold a social Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Dorr Street Café, 5243 Dorr St. Complimentary appetizers will be provided.

The Judith Herb College of Education Alumni Affiliate is part of the not-for-profit University of Toledo Alumni Association. Its purpose is to support the interests of the Judith Herb College of Education by promoting and coordinating activities and by encouraging a spirit of loyalty and unity among alumni and former students, as well as establishing and promoting alumni programs that assist in the cultural and physical growth of the college.
