The University of Toledo College of Law will welcome back three alumni judges to share their journeys from classroom to courtroom on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Judges Myron Duhart, Lori Olender and Michelle Wagner will discuss how their unique career paths have been guided by a shared foundation in “Integrity, Civil Discourse and Practicing Law ‘The Toledo Way’ ” at noon in the McQuade Law Auditorium.
The Toledo Way refers to the characteristic collegiality of the legal community in Toledo.
The free, public lecture kicks off the College of Law’s 2026-27 Toledo Way Series.
“Since we launched the Toledo Way Series in 2024, we’ve welcomed numerous attorneys who have modeled the professional integrity we aim to instill in our students through their personal accounts of careers that reflect the diversity of opportunities available with a law degree,” said Kate Abu-Absi, the program manager for alumni and student engagement at the College of Law. “As we now begin our third year of the series, we’re pleased to continue this tradition and to welcome back Judges Myron Duhart, Lori Olender and Michelle Wagner to the UToledo College of Law.”
Duhart, who received his juris doctor from the College of Law in 1996, served as an attorney in private practice, as a judge advocate in the U.S. Army and as a trial judge in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court before his election to the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals in 2020. Olender, who also graduated from the College of Law in 1996, served as both a defense and prosecuting attorney on juvenile cases before her appointment to the Lucas County Common Pleas Court in 2020. And Wagner, a former prosecutor who graduated in 1994, has served on the Toledo Municipal Court since 2011.
