With the start of fall semester on Monday, Aug. 29, UToledo students and employees have both a new and a newly reopened dining option in Thompson Student Union along with the return of some familiar eateries that closed for summer.
• Opening soon is Paper Lantern, a new, fast-casual Asian concept that will occupy the former space of ACE Sushi in the Student Union. Sushi will be available at Paper Lantern as well as at both Market locations. Paper Lantern will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
• Serving pizza by the slice, Wild Pie reopens its Student Union location Monday, with business hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
• Yo Kai Ramen Robot, a hot Ramen vending machine, will open at Parks Tower in September and operate 24/7.
• Established campus restaurants Chick-fil-A in Student Union, Freshens in North Engineering and Erbert & Gerbert’s in Ottawa East will feature expanded menu options.
• Select Rocket Dining retail locations — Subway, Wild Pie, Tu Taco, Paper Lantern and True Burger in the Student Union and Erbert & Gerbert’s — will be going cashless, moving to a new kiosk ordering system to make the ordering process quicker and easier.
“These new technologies and offerings were created in part due to student feedback,” said Aaron Skees, Rocket Dining director of marketing. “We can’t wait for our campus community to see all that we’ve been working on this summer.”
The Boost app also is available to the UToledo community to place food orders from many on-campus restaurants and skip the line for easy pickup.
