The College of Pharmacy will dedicate its new building Friday, Sept. 3.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Collier Building Auditorium. The new building is located between the Block Health Science and Health Education buildings on Health Science Campus.

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur will join UT President Lloyd Jacobs, Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold and UT Board of Trustees Chair Bill Fall for a short ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The $25 million Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified pharmacy facility includes laboratories, lecture halls and offices to offer students more hands-on experience in an integrated medical community.

Dr. Johnnie Early, dean of the College of Pharmacy, said the new facility will provide the college many more opportunities for collaborative practice and research among the health sciences.

“It has been amazing to witness the building and expansion project as it progressed from an idea and a sketch to a real, brick-and-mortar home for our academic and residency programs, students, faculty and staff,” Early said.

“The growth of the College of Pharmacy contributes to the outstanding patient care and academic environment on the Health Science Campus,” Gold, chancellor and executive vice president of biosciences and health affairs and dean of the College of Medicine, said.

“The opportunities for interprofessional education will benefit students in each discipline and prepare them for the types of collaboration they will see in their professional settings. Pharmacy students will certainly contribute to and benefit from this rich environment,” he added.

The UT and Toledo communities are invited to join the College of Pharmacy for the dedication, which will be followed by a reception and tours of the new building.
