The number of new students attending The University of Toledo is up as enrollment numbers are counted for fall semester 2023.

The number of new undergraduate students at the University is 3,883 according to UToledo’s 15-day census numbers, which is a 98-student increase from one year ago. More adult, transfer and international students are attending classes at UToledo, as well as more high school concurrent students through the state College Credit Plus program.

We know we have much more work to do, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to attract new students to our campuses to benefit from a UToledo education while also supporting current Rockets through successful graduation.”

The profile of the first-year class also is strong, Postel said, with high average ACT scores and high school grade point averages.

Total student enrollment for fall semester 2023 is 15,013 students, which includes 11,454 undergraduate students and 3,559 graduate students.

Among the factors contributing to UToledo’s decline in total enrollment numbers is increased graduation rates and large classes of students crossing the stage to earn their diploma. The preliminary 6-year graduation rate for students who first enrolled at UToledo in 2017 is 57.7%. While not yet final, it is tracking to be the highest on record beating the previous record of 56.5% set the previous year for students who began their studies in fall semester 2016.

UToledo continues to enhance its student recruitment efforts to make the University more competitive for a declining number of high school graduates attending college both in Ohio and across the country.
