The Center for Advocacy and Student Experience offers three new initiatives aimed at reducing food insecurity for the fall semester.
“I’m really excited and proud of the initiatives launching this fall to support our students’ basic needs,” said Dr. Danielle Lutman, associate director for the Center for Advocacy and Student Experience (CASE). “These initiatives expand the support all UToledo students have through the Rocket Fuel Food Pantries and show our students that campus cares. I’m grateful for our partners, auxiliary services and dining, for showing up for our students.”
Rockets Feeding Rockets Meal Swipe Donation Program will allow students with meal plans to donate meal swipes to provide students experiencing food insecurity meals at The Eatery. Students will be able to donate meal swipes starting Monday, Sept. 14, following the add/drop deadline for the fall semester 2026. Students experiencing food insecurity should be connected to CASE through a Rocket Care Report.
In partnership with Chartwells, Meal Recovery is back in Thompson Student Union. Meal Recovery redirects leftover catering orders to feed UToledo students with the bonus of decreasing food waste. Students should join ‘Meal Alert’ on InvoNet to receive notifications when Meal Recovery is available.
“Rocket Dining is proud to support CASE to fight food insecurity in our Rocket community,” said Aaron Skees, Chartwells director of marketing. “The meal swipe donation and food recovery programs provide Rockets in need with another critical opportunity for support.”
Based on data collected from the 2025-26 Rocket Care Reports, Emergency Food Bags have been provided to campus partners who regularly work with students experiencing food insecurity. Emergency Food Bags have approximately nine meals, only requiring water and a microwave. Information for Rocket Fuel hours and Meal Alert is also included in the bags.
Emergency Food Bags also have been provided to student support spaces at Health Science Campus.
