Professionals looking to change career paths to become teachers can do so with minimal financial commitment as the UT3 programs in The University of Toledo Judith Herb College of Education offers scholarships to individuals to become science and mathematics teachers.

An informational session will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in Gillham Hall Room 3050 on Main Campus.

There is a high need across Ohio and the nation for qualified mathematics and science teachers, with an expected growth rate of 12 percent between 2006 and 2016, according to the Ohio Bureau of Labor.

The session will provide details on the UT3 scholarship programs, which offer academic, professional and financial support for individuals committed to careers as science and mathematics teachers.

UT3 — UToledo UTeach UTouch the Future — is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Teacher Quality Enhancement Grants program Title II of the Higher Education Amendments of 1998.
