City Honors Tennis Teams for 2023 Championships

The Toledo City Council honored the men’s and women’s tennis teams for their 2023 Mid-American Conference championships with an official resolution at a meeting on Tuesday.

The men’s team, led by Head Coach Al Wermer, won its first MAC Championship title in 50 years and went on to play Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Head Coach Tracy Mauntler’s women won their first outright regular season title in program history with a perfect 10-0 league record.

Both coaches were named MAC Coach of the Year in their respective sports, while Pawit Sornlaksup and Cassie Alcala earned MAC Player of the Year honors.
