Schmidt Outstanding Young Alum Award winner Joel Whitcomb, who earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2009 and his master of business administration in 2011, rides in the annual Edward C. and Helen G. Schmakel Homecoming Parade on Saturday with his family, all of whom sport matching sunglasses.

The 2023 Gold T award winner Dr. Martino Harmon — 1987 bachelor of business administration, 1998 master of education, 2013 doctor of philosophy — speaks at The University of Toledo Alumni Association Homecoming Alumni Gala Friday night in Thompson Student Union Auditorium. Harmon has dedicated his career to improving college students’ well-being. He has made an impact at institutions including Iowa State University, Cincinnati State Community College and UToledo. He currently serves as the vice president for student life at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Also on Friday evening, Rocket alumni renewed their wedding vows in a special ceremony officiated by University of Toledo President Gregory Postel in front of University Hall.
Among the Rocket Romance couples: Kent and Lori Adams, both 1990 UToledo graduates. Lori received a bachelor of education and Kent a bachelor of business administration.
And Toni and Robert Woodley. Toni graduated in 2015 from the College of Nursing and Robert in 2019 from the Judith Herb College of Education.
Saturday’s annual Edward C. and Helen G. Schmakel Homecoming Parade was a big draw.
And included the 2023 Rocket Marching Band.
As well as a Rocket Marching Band Reunion at the Alumni Pavilion during Saturday’s pregame festivities.
And finally, the crowning of the University’s 2023 Homecoming King, Dhiraj Mohite, and Homecoming Queen, Ella Moscinski, who pose with UToledo President Gregory Postel during Saturday’s football game.
