An open house at the UT Early Learning Center will take place Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“We’re opening our doors so our employees can see for themselves what a high caliber program we offer,” said Caryn Salts, director of the center. “We offer quality education, experienced staff and a great location near Health Science Campus.”

The UT Early Learning Center is located at 1932 Birchwood Ave. and offers programs for children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. An adventure program for school-aged children also is offered during the summer months.

The center has been in operation for more than 50 years and is accredited by
the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This is a rigorous voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence. The center is one of seven child-care facilities in Toledo to achieve the accreditation, according to Salts.

“Members of our professional teaching staff hold associate’s and bachelor’s degrees and are trained in early childhood education,” she said. “Some of our teachers been here for more than 20 years, which adds consistency for the children.”

During the open house, visitors will have access to the center’s double-sized classrooms, full-sized gym and outdoor playgrounds. Staff also will be on hand to conduct tours and answer questions.
