A campus Homecoming pep rally will begin at noon Wednesday, Oct. 12, on the Student Union steps in Centennial Mall. UT Homecoming Director Katie Smith will join UT Head Football Coach Jason Candle, the Rocket football team, the UT Marching Band, the UT cheerleaders and Rocky the Rocket at the pep rally to cheer Toledo to a victory over the Falcons.

UT students who check into the event on the Rocket Gold Rewards app will get free pizza and a free Homecoming T-shirt — courtesy of the Division of Student Affairs — at the conclusion of the pep rally. T-shirts are limited to the first 250 students.

Athletic Department personnel also will be on hand to offer discounted season tickets to faculty and staff. Students can earn Rocket Gold Reward points through the SuperFanU smartphone app to win awards and prizes throughout the season.

“Rocky’s 50th Golden Birthday Celebration” is the theme of The University of Toledo’s Homecoming, and UT students, employees and fans can sing the birthday song to the iconic mascot, have a slice of cake, and bring presents that he will donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The downtown pep rally will begin at 9 p.m. The UT pep band will play at five downtown restaurants and pubs, beginning with Pizza Papalis at 9 p.m., followed by Veritas, Ye Olde Durty Bird, Cock ‘n’ Bull and The Blarney.

Tickets for the Homecoming game can be purchased at the UT Athletic Ticket Office at Savage Arena, online or by calling 419.530.GOLD (4653).
