Jahnee Horn, associate director of Admission, Diversity and Access in the Office of Undergraduate Admission, recently received the Rising Star Award for the state of Ohio from the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) at its annual conference in Baltimore.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the University of Toledo as an executive board member of the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling,” Horn said. “This award was given to me based on my work as the Inclusion, Access and Success committee chair and executive board member of OACAC, including the administration of the Warren Memorial Heritage Scholarship for traditionally underrepresented students and the creation of webinar series and certificate program ‘Championing Inclusion, Access and Success in College Admission Counseling.’
“The National Association for College Admission Counseling Award represents my hard work and dedication in developing as a leader in the field of college admission counseling and enrollment management as well as my commitment to advocating for college access, campus inclusion and student success in higher education.”
Christy Sevier, assistant vice president of the Undergraduate Admissions Division of Enrollment Management, commended Horn’s passion, leadership and commitment to UToledo students.
“The NACAC Rising Star Award is one of the most prestigious awards in our profession. This award recognizes individuals early in their careers but who are already making a difference in the profession with their leadership and dedication to serving students as they transition into college,” Sevier said. “At UToledo, we are fortunate to have Jahnee on our Undergraduate Admissions team. Her leadership, passion and commitment to serving students is a tremendous benefit.
“I’m excited to see Jahnee recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field, and I can’t wait to see how she continues to grow and impact the profession.”
Horn is a two-time UToledo alumna with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in educational psychology, and she is part of a Rocket Family: her father, and oldest and youngest sisters all received bachelor’s degrees from UToledo.
