The University of Toledo celebrated its sesquicentennial on Founder’s Day with food, fun and music. The day started with barbecue events on both campuses, featured a lecture and the opening of an exhibit highlighting the University’s 150-year history, and concluded with performances by local and national musicians in Savage Arena.

The campus community first enjoyed the Founder’s Day BBQ lunch on Main Campus and Health Science Campus with food and games.

Later that afternoon, Barbara Floyd, retired university archivist and author of the upcoming book “An Institution for the Promoting of Knowledge: The University of Toledo at 150,” discussed The University of Toledo’s history at Carlson Library. Titled “Founder’s Day Lecture: Ten Events That Shaped 150 Years,” the lecture can be watched on the history page of the 150th celebration webpage.

The Ward M. Canaday Center’s exhibit commemorating UToledo’s sesquicentennial, “Faith, Vision, and Hard Work: The University of Toledo, 1872-2022,” officially opened following the lecture.

Next, Rockets packed Savage Hall for the Founder’s Day concert featuring local bands Distant Cousinz and the Skittle Bots, followed by national acts country-rapper David Morris and country singer Nate Smith below.
