University of Toledo faculty members were recognized at the Tenure and Promotion Reception on Thursday, Oct. 30, in Thompson Student Union, and received a certificate honoring their accomplishments from Provost Mitchell McKinney and President James Holloway.
“It is a privilege and honor to formally recognize faculty members here today for achieving tenure and/or promotion, signifying their exceptional contributions to teaching, research and service, and solidifying their position as a valued member of our academic community,” McKinney said. “These accomplishments certainly are not achieved without support from colleagues, family, friends and mentors. It was great to see the support for our faculty at the reception.”

In addition to the reception, every faculty member who received tenure and/or promotion selected a book that has been influential in their life, career or discipline. The University Libraries purchased a copy of their book for one of its circulating collections with an inscription to acknowledge the faculty member being honored.
Books selected range from scholarly books crucial to their research, books that bring back memories of their childhood or recent books in a field of study. These books will be on display on the first-floor lobby in Carlson Library to commemorate the faculty receiving tenure and/or promotion. The display is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Dec. 12. The display will feature a link to the LibGuides, where faculty share why they selected their book.
Those honored received Board of Trustees approval in April.
