Approximately 30 students from the Jesup Scott Honors College will take an immersion excursion to the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium Nov. 5 for National Career Development Month.
A collaboration between UToledo Career Services, Jesup Scott Honors College and the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium, the event is an on-site and behind-the-scenes excursion to help students explore their careers.
“UToledo students will dive into an exploration of the many career fields that it takes to operate the Toledo Zoo,” said Joshua Minor, education specialist at the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium. “They will go behind the scenes in our aquarium and meet an animal up close to highlight our life science careers. Students will also explore some of the many other positions including finance, hospitality, construction and marketing.”
With a wide range of career pathways, the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium is the first of many immersion excursions Career Services plans for Rockets.
“We are thrilled to bring this career development event to fruition,” said Mark Ballard, associate director of Career Services. “Our hope is that this immersion excursion serves as a model for future immersion excursions for the Jesup Scott Honors College and for other UToledo colleges and programs.”
