Lake Erie topic of Nov. 19 lecture at UT center

The University of Toledo Lake Erie Center will present “Lake Erie: At the Forefront of Ecological Forecasting” as part of its free, public lecture series Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Deborah Lee, director of national oceanic and atmospheric administration at the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, will host the lecture in Lake Erie Center Room 155, located at 6200 Bayshore Road in Oregon, Ohio.

“The presentation will highlight National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s emerging role in ecological forecasting within the Great Lakes,” Lee said. “I’ll talk about how we bring together the latest technologies in environmental observation with physical and biological models to make predictions about harmful algal blooms, hypoxia, toxic spills and the impacts of invasive species.”
