Reminder: Book Chronicling UToledo’s 150-Year History Now Available

“An Institution for the Promoting of Knowledge: The University of Toledo at 150,” a 328-page hardcover book as part of the University’s sesquicentennial celebration, is now available in select local bookstores.

Published by The University of Toledo Press, the book is available for $39.95 at Rockets Bookstore, 3047 W. Bancroft St., Gathering Volumes, 196E South Boundary St. in Perrysburg, and online at utoledopress.com.

Barbara Floyd, professor emerita of library administration and retired university archivist, lectured on “Ten Events that Shaped 150 Years” as part of the University’s Founder’s Day activities.

Written by Barbara Floyd, professor emerita of library administration and retired university archivist, “An Institution for the Promoting of Knowledge” details the University’s history from its founding to present day, including the administrations of each of the presidents and the contributions of administrators, faculty, alumni and students.

Floyd holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from UToledo and served as university archivist from 1986 to 2017. She also was director of the Ward M. Canaday Center for Special Collections, where the archives are housed.

All author’s royalties from the sale of the book will be donated by Floyd to the Canaday Center in support of the work of university archives.
