Faculty, staff and students still have a few opportunities to get a free influenza vaccine on campus ahead of Thanksgiving break
Influenza vaccines are available on Main Campus at University Health Center from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 25, Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Wednesday, Nov. 27.
On Health Science Campus, vaccines are available at the outpatient pharmacy in UTMC Medical Pavilion today from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The University requires annual flu vaccines for all on-campus students and employees who are not represented by a bargaining unit, as well as all healthcare workers at the University of Toledo Medical Center and University clinics.
Individuals who are required to be vaccinated must provide proof of vaccination prior to Dec. 1 of each year.
Students and employees who complete a consent form and get vaccinated through the University will have their proof of vaccination uploaded automatically. Individuals who received their flu shot elsewhere can upload proof of vaccination through the University’s online vaccine registry.
Students who are taking 100% of their courses online and employees who are working 100% remotely and do not come to campus are exempt from the influenza vaccine requirement.
The CDC recommends everyone aged six months and older receive an annual influenza vaccine.
UToledo has been offering students and employees free influenza vaccines on campus since Oct. 1.
COVID-19 vaccines also are available at the outpatient pharmacy in the UTMC Medical Pavilion and the main campus pharmacy. UToledo encourages, but does not require, faculty, staff and students to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Insurance will be billed for the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees with health insurance through the University will have no out-of-pocket expense. Copays for students and employees who do not have health insurance through UToledo will depend on their individual health plan benefits.
