The Toledo community is invited to get a glimpse of the new Chevrolet Volt and learn more about the electric vehicle when an auto industry executive visits The University of Toledo.

Jeffery Liedel, chief information officer for OnStar and a 1988 UT graduate, will give a lecture titled “Chevrolet Volt and On-Board Telematics” at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the SSOE Seminar Room in Nitschke Hall.

The free, public lecture will focus on the new Chevrolet Volt, which is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability, and its on-board telematics device. Liedel also will discus the mobile application and some of the “smart grid” capabilities.

A Chevrolet Volt will be on display on the first floor of Nitschke Hall as part of the event.

Liedel also will spend part of the morning speaking with UT College of Engineering students about the OnStar Student Development Challenge to create original voice-enabled applications.

One continuing professional development credit will be offered for professional engineers.

RSVPs are encouraged via e-mail to rsvp@eng.utoledo.edu or by phone to 419.530.8014.
