The Title IX Office is collaborating with Rocket Dining Services, the Rocket Food Pantry, Office of Student Engagement, Eberly Center and the Four Seasons Bistro on Health Science Campus for Cup of Prevention Week. This semiannual campaign is scheduled now through Friday, Dec. 6. More than 1,000 stickers can be found on drink cups and food containers to spread awareness and education surrounding sexual misconduct.

The QR code located on these stickers will direct campus community members to a website that contains information about sexual misconduct prevention and resources available to students, faculty and staff at The University of Toledo.

“Cup of Prevention is important because it helps educate all of The University of Toledo campus,” said Evelyn Conway, a Title IX student ambassador. “It is something that everyone needs to be aware of to help positively contribute to the campus community.”

Cup of Prevention week is one of many educational initiatives recognized throughout the academic year to promote awareness of the many campus resources available for those impacted by sexual misconduct and to foster a healthy and safe campus culture for all members of the UToledo community.

“Education initiatives like Cup of Prevention are crucial and the Title IX Office does an incredible job connecting with Rockets,” said Aaron Skees, director of marketing for Rocket Dining. “We are proud to continue amplifying their important work.”

Title IX Office is committed to providing resources and supportive measures for those impacted and to ensuring that members of the campus community know how to prevent sexual misconduct by being “Rocket Upstanders” and standing against sexual harassment.

“The goal of this campaign is to empower you with the tools to intervene safely if you see something that concerns you. We want you to know that your courage matters in creating a healthy community,” said Zoe Zulakis, Title IX investigator. “Using your voice will empower others to use theirs — if you see something, say something. And in so doing, one bad actor will become just that and nothing more.”

UToledo’s Title IX Office ensures compliance with federal law. The Title IX Office may investigate reports of sexual misconduct, implement supportive measures when necessary and work to remedy the effects of sexual misconduct.
