Rockets Accept Invitation to Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl

The University of Toledo has accepted an invitation to play Wyoming in the 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona, Toledo Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair announced Sunday.

The contest will kick off at 4:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Dec. 30, and will be nationally televised on the CW and the Barstool Sports Mobile App.

Wyoming (8-4, 5-3 MWC) finished in a tie for fourth place in the Mountain West Conference.

“We are very pleased to accept an invitation to the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl,” Blair said. “We thank the bowl committee for selecting us and look forward to enjoying all the hospitality that the Tucson area has to offer. This is a terrific reward for an incredible season by our football team. I know Coach Candle and the coaching staff will have our team ready for what should be a tremendous matchup with Wyoming.”

This will be the Rockets’ third consecutive bowl trip and seventh under Head Coach Jason Candle.

“We are extremely excited to be headed to Tucson to compete against Wyoming in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl,” said Candle, who has a 65-34 record in eight seasons as head coach. “We had a highly successful season, and this is a great reward for our players and coaches after all of their hard work. We look forward to the challenge of playing a very talented Wyoming team and representing our University and the Toledo community in Arizona.”

This will be Toledo’s first appearance in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl, which debuted in 2015. The Rockets have played two games in Arizona Stadium vs. Arizona in 2008 and 2012. Wyoming is 1-1 in Arizona Bowl appearances, defeating Georgia State in 2019 and losing to Ohio in last year’s game.

This will be the third meeting between Toledo and Wyoming. The Cowboys won in Toledo in 2010 while the Rockets came out on top in Laramie in 2012.

Ticket Information

Ticket orders can be placed online at UTRockets.com/bowltix, by phone at 419-530-GOLD (4653), or at the Rocket Ticket Office located in the Sullivan Athletic Complex at Savage Arena during office hours.

Tickets are $53 for reserved sideline seats and $28 for Student tickets. The purchase deadline is Dec. 22 at 5:00 p.m. After the deadline, assigned seat locations will be based on football season tickets, Rocket Fund, and Toledo Athletics giving history. Tickets are located in sections 19-24 (Student tickets are located in section 18) and will start being delivered digitally via SeatGeek starting Friday, Dec. 22. Specific instructions will be sent via email when tickets are delivered.

Fans will also be able to put deposits down to reserve their 2024 football season tickets.
