Career Services is celebrating the 100th appointment in the Rocket Style Career Closet since the beginning of the fall 2021 semester.

The Rocket Style Career Closet, an extension of Career Services, provides an inclusive and welcoming space for students to shop for professional clothing at no cost. Just one year ago, Career Services opened the doors to the new Rocket Style Career Closet in the Lancelot Student Union by combining the efforts of Kate’s Closet and the Professional Menswear Closet to provide a one-stop shop for professional image and branding.

Since the newly renovated space opened in November, 2020, the Rocket Style Career Closet has grown in popularity and size. There has been a nearly 30% increase in appointments within the first two months of the fall 2021 semester, compared to the 2020-2021 academic year, with more than a hundred appointments completed so far.

During the recent Student Government Administrative Dinner, Career Services Director Shelly Drouillard said she heard from multiple students that their professional attire for the event was obtained at Rocket Style Career Closet.

“It meant so much to hear the enthusiasm and appreciation directly from the students for the closet,” Drouillard said, “and underscored its importance as an on-campus resource.”

Career Services also has taken in many generous donations as well and has added positions to on-campus student employment with their Rocket Stylist Ambassador team.
