Each year the Title IX Office collaborates with campus partners to promote “Cup of Prevention,” an initiative to promote awareness and education on issues relating to sexual misconduct.

This year, the Title IX Office is collaborating with Rocket Dining, the Office of Student Advocacy and Support, the Four Seasons Bistro on Health Science Campus and new partner Office of Student Involvement and Leadership.

Through the “Cup of Prevention” campaign, stickers will be placed on 1,500 coffee sleeves and food packages during the month of December. Each sticker will have a snap code leading to a page with information about Title IX.

“As we keep awareness of this important topic in the forefront, this is one more way to make sure UToledo shares opportunities to learn more and access resources,” said Valerie Simmons-Walston, interim vice president for Student Affairs.

Cup of Prevention is one of many educational initiatives presented throughout the academic year to make the UToledo community aware of the many campus resources available to them should they be impacted by sexual misconduct.

This awareness campaign and others throughout the year are designed to continue conversations on how to be a prosocial bystander and further discussions on consent as well as identify resources available to them. This campaign is in addition to banners, posters, lawn signs, TV screens, tabling and brochures found around campus.

The University’s Title IX Office ensures compliance with federal law and works to raise awareness of sexual misconduct prevention. The Title IX Office responds to and may investigate reports of sexual misconduct, implements supportive measures when necessary and works to remedy the effects of sexual misconduct.
