Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook Dec. 13 denied a preliminary and/or permanent injunctive relief order sought by The University of Toledo Chapter of the American Association of University Professors during a trial held Dec. 2 and 3.

The trial was held in response to a request by the UT Chapter of the American Association of University Professors that the court issue an injunction to maintain the status quo while a grievance challenging the University’s reorganization process proceeds through the grievance and arbitration procedure outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

On Oct. 11, the UT Board of Trustees approved the restructuring of the academic enterprise, creating new colleges and combining and renaming others. Trustees also approved the creation of a number of schools to be sponsored by one or more colleges.

The Board’s Academic and Student Affairs Committee met Dec. 6 and approved the appointment of five deans to newly created or merged colleges. The full board will consider the appointments in January.
