The University of Toledo is searching for “a visionary leader committed to imagining the potential of this institution” as the recruitment process gets underway for the next permanent president with the public release of the leadership profile.

The profile document describes the expectations for UToledo’s 19th president and their opportunity to make an impact on the institution. The document also describes the University for potential candidates with a focus on academic and student success, research and innovation, healthcare and medical education, athletics, and the Toledo region and community engagement.

“As the leadership profile lays out, we are seeking a leader committed to the institution’s values who can generate enthusiasm on campus and beyond to take the University to a higher level of achievement and recognition,” UToledo Board of Trustees Chair Patrick J. Kenney said. “We are looking for someone who is visionary, collaborative, committed and transparent to serve as UToledo’s 19th president.”

The profile was created by a Presidential Profile Committee composed of internal and external stakeholders who collaborated over the course of several weeks to describe the leadership opportunity and generate interest in UToledo and the Toledo community. The document will be used by Education Executives, the firm the UToledo Board of Trustees has selected to assist with the search, to recruit candidates for the position.

A Presidential Search Committee co-chaired by Kenney and UToledo Trustee Stephen P. Ciucci that includes all trustees, members of the Presidential Profile Committee and external stakeholders will be responsible for reviewing candidates and selecting UToledo’s next leader.

“This is a great opportunity for a creative and collaborative leader who is excited to join our community in northwest Ohio and make a difference,” Ciucci said. “For more than 150 years UToledo has championed academic, healthcare and athletic excellence, community engagement, and research and innovation. It’s an important and valuable legacy to continue.”

The presidential profile is available on the presidential search website utoledo.edu/presidential-search.
