If you’ve turned on the radio recently, you’ve probably heard Aminé’s debut hit “Caroline.” On Thursday, April 20, hear the song live as UT will welcome the rapper, featuring a performance by Tae Fresh, in the Thompson Student Union Auditorium.

The doors will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.

The concert will be presented by Campus Activities and Programming as well as the Black Student Union.

“Campus Activities and Programming reached out to the Black Student Union at the beginning of the school year with the idea of us collaborating with them for a student concert,” said Mekayla Pullins, president of the Black Student Union. “This is an event that a lot of the student body has been waiting for, and for us to collaborate with Campus Activities and Programming also brings in a bigger and more inclusive, diverse crowd. This will definitely be a good one.”

Although a new artist, Aminé has definitely caught the attention of the music industry. His hit song peaked at No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, and he recently was featured in Rolling Stone magazine.

“Aminé is a new artist, and we wanted to bring someone up and coming,” said Kelsey O’Brien, president of Campus Activities and Programming.

“I am pretty excited to have Aminé perform on our campus,” Pullins added. “This is something that students want to see from us, and this is an artist that clearly extends to all the different crowds on campus, making for a huge diverse audience coming together to have a great time.”

There will be 1,000 free tickets available to students, but O’Brien warns that they are going fast.

Free tickets are available for UT students with a valid ID at Ask Rocky, and tickets for non-UT students are $5.
