The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Pharmacy Camp returns this summer, from Monday, June 27, through Wednesday, June 29.

Sponsored by Walgreens, the camp is for high school students going into their junior or senior year in fall 2022.

In this photo from the 2019 Pharmacy Camp, Dr. Frederick Williams helps participants with a hands-on lab activity. Registration for this year’s camp is now open.

Participants will learn about UToledo’s pharmacy program, hear from practicing pharmacists and participate in hands-on lab activities. There also will be a panel of UToledo alumni who will share their academic and career experiences. Attendees will stay on campus in one of UToledo’s residence halls to get the full student experience.

UToledo has hosted a summer pharmacy camp since 2001, but the event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.

“We are very excited to be bringing pharmacy camp back after having to take a pause due to COVID,” said Dr. Megan Kaun, director of experiential education in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

“If there is one thing that COVID has taught us, it is that pharmacists are absolutely essential members of the healthcare team. Pharmacy Camp is a great way to introduce high school students to the many different pathways that a degree in pharmacy can offer.”

The camp registration fee is $250 per student, with a limited amount of financial need scholarships available.
