The University of Toledo men’s basketball team will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to face the University of Michigan in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament. The Rockets (27-7, 16-2 MAC) will meet the Wolverines (17-15, 11-9 Big Ten) in the Crisler Center on Tuesday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and will also be broadcast on the Rocket Radio Network which includes WSPD-AM 1370 in Toledo.
The NIT’s second round will be played Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19, with the quarterfinals on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 21 and 22. The semifinals and championship game will be held in Las Vegas on Tuesday, March 28, and Thursday, March 30. For the second-straight season, the NIT seeded only the top half of the 32-team field. The bottom 16 unseeded teams were placed into the bracket by the NIT Committee as close to their area of natural interest as possible.
Toledo is making its 12th NIT appearance in school history. The Rockets’ 27 victories this season are tied with the 2013-14 squad for the most in school history. In addition, Toledo’s 74 victories over the last three seasons are its most ever in a three-year period.
Toledo will be playing in the NIT for the third straight year after becoming the first current Mid-American Conference school to three straight outright league titles. Cincinnati won four MAC crowns in a row from the 1947-48 through 1950-51 seasons.
Ticket information for Tuesday’ matchup with the Wolverines will be provided on Monday.
