The University of Toledo will celebrate women’s historical achievements and explore current women’s issues with a series of in-person events and activities for students, faculty and staff throughout March.
“We’re excited to remember and celebrate the contributions of women on campus and in the community during Women’s History Month,” said Danielle Lutman, associate director of the Catharine S. Eberly Center. “We have a great calendar lined up with events from student orgs, academic departments and community partners.”

Activities and events throughout the month will lead up to the sixth annual Womxn of Color Symposium, Serenity in Success on Friday, March 22. For more information visit the WOCS website.

• Thursday, March 7, 9:30 a.m. Circle Connect: International Women’s Day with University Women’s Commission at Carlson Library Starbucks. Join the Women’s Mentoring Network and University Women’s Commission for coffee and connection to celebrate International Women’s Day.
• Monday, March 11, 5:30 p.m. “Breaking the Stigma: Mifepristone for Early Pregnancy Loss” in Collier Building Room 1200. Join Lambda Kappa Sigma and Dr. Abigail Barazi, an emergency medicine pharmacy specialist at Mercy Health and a UToledo alumna, for a conversation about Mifepristone and breaking the stigma.
• Monday, March 11, 6:30 p.m. 4AW Sister Circle, location TBD. Come join 4AW for a Women’s History Month Sister Circle.
• Monday, March 11, 7 p.m. CAP Movie Monday Series: “Barbie” in Doermann Theatre. The Campus Activities and Programming Board along with the Division of Student Affairs celebrate Women’s History Month as part of the Movie Monday series.
• Wednesday, March 13, 11 a.m. The UToledo Department of Women’s and Gender Studies Student Research Showcase in University Hall Room 4280.
• Wednesday, March 13, 2 p.m. Crafting for a Cause in the Eberly Center Lounge in Tucker Hall Room 0168. Join the Sexual Health Coalition to learn about National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day while crafting.
• Thursday, March 14, noon. WHM L&L: Librarians and (Feminist) Leadership in the Eberly Center Lounge in Tucker Hall Room 0168. Join Melissa Luthman, Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s Steinem Sisters Collection Librarian, for our Women’s History Month Lunch and Lead. Learn all about Melissa’s journey to becoming a librarian, the TLCPL Steinem Sisters Collection and what leadership looks like for Melissa at TLCPL. Lunch will be provided.
• Monday, March 18, 7 p.m. CAP Movie Monday Series: “The Color Purple” in Doermann Theatre. The Campus Activities and Programming Board along with the Division of Student Affairs celebrate Women’s History Month as part of the Movie Monday series.
• Wednesday, March 20, 5 p.m. “Mentorship: What Does that Look Like?” in the Eberly Center Lounge, Tucker Hall 0168. Join us for a discussion on how to seek out mentorship and what mentorship looks like. Write Thank You’s to mentors and enjoy good conversation.
• Friday, March 22. Womxn of Color Symposium: Serenity in Success in Thompson Student Union. The University of Toledo’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will host the sixth annual Womxn of Color Symposium (WOCS). This year’s theme, “Serenity in Success,” is all about recommitting to the practices, strategies and lifestyles choices that make you feel fulfilled, safe, healthy, thriving and, most importantly, like the best version of you from (wellness to finances). • Tuesday, March 26, noon. “How to Write a Conference Abstract” in Collier Building Room 1035. Dr. Gabriella Baki, director of the UToledo Cosmetic Science and Formulation Design Program and an associate professor of pharmacy practice, will be leading a workshop on writing conference abstracts. Each year, Baki and her students are present their research at multiple conferences. Come learn all her tips and tricks to getting your abstract submitted and accepted.
• Friday, March 29, 2 p.m. Trans Day of Visibility Queer Crafting in the Office of Multicultural Student Success in Thompson Student Union Room 2500. Join us for a meditative, crafting experience to engage in self-care. Learn about the importance of Trans Day of Visibility and craft with us. We will have many yarn activities including crocheting, friendship bracelet making, tote bags and coloring sheets.
• Saturday, March 30, 12:30 p.m. WHM Story Book Reading and Meet the Author in the Eberly Center Lounge in Tucker Hall Room 0168. Bring your kiddos and join us for “Land of the Lost Socks.” Neaira Williams is a local author and will be reading her books to families and signing copies. We will have snacks and books for those in attendance. Register online to attend.
