Thursday, April 30, is the deadline for artists to apply for a chance to be part of The University of Toledo’s Art on the Mall.
The 28th annual juried art fair is scheduled to be held Sunday, July 26. Should the University’s signature summertime event that draws many to campus need to be canceled due to the pandemic, booth fees will be refunded to artists.
UToledo’s Centennial Mall is the place to be for Art on the Mall, which has become a summer tradition.
In addition to completing the application, artists will need to submit four digital images of their work. There is a $25 application fee.
“During this challenging time, we need events like Art on the Mall to look forward to,” Ansley Abrams-Frederick, director of alumni programming in the UToledo Office of Alumni Engagement, said. “We are planning to have this event provided it will be safe to do so this summer.”
For nearly three decades, more than 100 artists from around the country have displayed and sold their creations in acrylic, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil, pen and ink, photography, pottery, textiles, fibers, and many other forms.
Artists will be eligible for cash prizes, including UToledo’s Best of Show presented to an artist with an affiliation with the University.
As always, the event is scheduled to feature food vendors, live music, and hands-on children’s art activities.
