The University of Toledo recognized faculty members who led the University in contributing new or advanced knowledge through research publications or made original contributions in the arts during the past several years.

Announced on May 18, the 2021 Awards for Creative and Scholarly Activity were awarded to 26 faculty members in recognition of their scholarly or creative activity during the 2017-19 period.

“I am impressed with the high quality of the publications and creative works of our faculty that bring attention to their good work and that of The University of Toledo among the international community of scholars,” said Dr. Frank Calzonetti, vice president for research. “Through this awards process, we are able to call attention to work that may otherwise go unnoticed to our campus community.”

The contributions include articles published in prestigious and widely read journals, papers by UToledo authors that have been highly cited by other researchers and books written by UToledo faculty members, among other methods to measure a significant impact in their respective fields of expertise.

“All of these measures are indications that these scholars are not just outstanding among their UToledo peers, but have a large international audience and impact,” said Wade M. Lee-Smith, research engagement and science librarian at University of Toledo Libraries.
