‘SNL’ Comedian to Perform Sept. 8 at Savage Arena

Comedian Colin Jost, the award-winning head writer at “Saturday Night Live,” will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Savage Arena. “SNL” featured players Molly Kearney and Marcello Hernandez will open the show.

Jost joined “Saturday Night Live” as a writer in 2005 and became co-head writer in 2012. He has won five Writers Guild Awards, two Peabody Awards and has been nominated for 12 Emmy Awards for his writing on “SNL.”

Since 2014, he has co-anchored “Weekend Update” alongside fellow “SNL” cast member Michael Che. Jost and Che hosted special editions of “Weekend Update” on MSNBC during the 2016 Republican and Democratic national conventions as well as the primetime “Weekend Update Summer Edition” in 2017. In 2018, they co-hosted the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Jost has appeared in the comedy films “How to Be Single,” “Coming 2 America” and “Tom and Jerry,” and wrote 2015’s “Staten Island Summer,” a coming-of-age comedy released by Paramount Pictures and produced by Lorne Michaels.

In July 2020, Jost published his memoir, “A Very Punchable Face,” a series of essays that document pivotal moments in his life including growing up in Staten Island in a family of firefighters, commuting three hours a day to high school and attending Harvard while Facebook was created.
