The University of Toledo will host a pep rally at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, to kick off Rocket Week leading up to the Homecoming football game.

The pep rally will be in Centennial Mall in front of the Thompson Student Union. UToledo President Gregory Postel will be joined by Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz in celebration of Rocket Week. Toledo Football Coach Jason Candle, as well as football players, cheerleaders and members of the Rocket Marching Band also will participate in the pep rally.

During the pep rally the Rocket flag will replace the city of Toledo flag at One Government Center in downtown. As part of Rocket Week, fans are asked to fly their UToledo flags throughout the week leading up to the big Homecoming game. Fans are also reminded to wear their midnight blue and gold Rocket gear on Rocket Thursdays.

The Homecoming football game against MAC West Division rival Northern Illinois kicks off at noon Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Glass Bowl. Prior to the game, the annual Edward C. and Helen G. Schmakel Homecoming Parade will begin on campus at 8 a.m. and make its way through the Old Orchard neighborhood.
