The University of Toledo Police Department and the College of Pharmacy Student American Pharmacist Association are hosting a Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 23.
One of several Lucas County events scheduled as part of National Drug Take Back Day, the UToledo collection runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main entrance of The University of Toledo Medical Center, just off Library Circle.
UTPD will provide the community a free and anonymous way to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
Expired or unused medications that will be accepted include:
• Narcotics;
• Over-the-counter medications;
• Pet medications; and
• Vitamins.
The collection site will not accept syringes, inhalers, liquid medications, ointments or lotions.
College of Pharmacy students also will be on-site to offer free blood glucose screenings and blood pressure screenings, in addition to providing free medication disposal kits. College of Pharmacy students from the Addiction Medicine Program will be available to provide free Narcan and opioid awareness training.
