With COVID-19 cases continuing to rise across the United States and Ohio ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, The University of Toledo is encouraging students, faculty and staff to take advantage of this week’s on-campus testing event.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, and Friday, Nov. 20, the UToledo community can get a free COVID-19 test. Originally scheduled for outside Rocket Hall in parking area 25 for drive-thru and walk-up testing, it was moved inside because of forecasted high winds on Thursday.
No appointments or physician referrals are needed, but individuals are encouraged complete their pre-register forms ahead of time to reduce wait times.
Printable pre-registration forms can be found on the UToledo coronavirus website.
Health insurance is not required, but individuals should bring their Rocket ID and pre-registration paperwork with them.
The testing is made possible through a partnership with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. The health department also will provide testing for community members during a public portion of the testing event. Samples will be taken via a nasopharyngeal swab.
Results are expected to be available within two to three days, allowing individuals time to receive their results before the end of on-campus classes Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The University has plans in place to provide temporary on-campus housing and food for residential students who test positive and are unable to return to their permanent residence to complete the recommended 10-day isolation period.
