Tickets on sale for GoDaddy Bowl; Alumni Association offering charter trip

See you at the GoDaddy Bowl! Tickets are on sale to watch the Toledo Rockets play the Arkansas State Red Wolves Sunday, Jan. 4, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile Ala.

GoDaddy logoThe game will be played at 8 p.m. Central/9 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on ESPN.

UT fans: The University of Toledo Alumni Association is offering a round-trip charter flight, two-night stay at the Mobile Marriott, game ticket, pre-game party featuring fresh Gulf seafood, Southern specialties, the UT Marching Band and cheerleaders, and more.

In addition, fans will go to the Mayor’s Luncheon, where former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann will speak. There’ll be a Mardi Gras parade and fireworks, and a tour and lunch aboard the USS Alabama. Shuttles will whisk UT faithful to all events.

Departure from Toledo Express Airport will be at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2. Fans will return to the Glass City immediately following the game at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5.

This special package is $999 per person based on double occupancy, or $1,149 for a single, and can be purchased online at toledoalumni.org or by calling the UT Alumni Office at 419.530.2586 or 800.235.6766.

Fans with their own travel plans to Mobile may buy tickets for the pre-game party for $35 online at toledoalumni.org or by calling the UT Alumni Office.

“We have 100 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis,” said Dan Saevig, UT associate vice president of alumni relations. “The price of this package is the same as was charged 10 years ago, and those who traveled with us will tell you that it was an absolutely fabulous experience.”

A total of 100 students will board buses to be at the big game, thanks to the UT Alumni Association and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The specially priced trip sold out in two and a half hours last week, according to Marcus Sneed, associate director of alumni relations.

The Alumni Association and Athletic Department are pursuing the possibility of adding a bus or buses for UT students. Information will be announced as it becomes available.

Sideline tickets for the game are $45 each and can be ordered online at UTRocketsTIX.com, by phone at 419.530.4653, or in person at the ticket office until Tuesday, Dec. 30. All tickets will be held at the UT Ticket Office for pickup until 5 p.m. Dec. 30.

After Dec. 30, all tickets can be ordered online at UTRocketsTIX.com until Saturday, Jan. 3, and must be picked up on game day at will call at the GoDaddy Bowl beginning at 6 p.m. at gate 4-W.

The Rockets (8-4, 7-1 Mid-American Conference) are co-champions of the West Division of the conference, sharing the crown with Northern Illinois. NIU won the tiebreaker and advanced to the MAC Championship Game by virtue of its 27-24 win over UT Nov. 11. Toledo won its final two games of the regular-season, a 27-20 victory over MAC East Division champion Bowling Green Nov. 19 and a 52-16 thrashing at Eastern Michigan Nov. 28. The Rockets are bowl-eligible for the fifth straight season.

Toledo played in Mobile for a bowl game in 2005 when it was known as the GMAC Bowl. The Rockets defeated UTEP, 45-13.

Arkansas State is 7-5 and 5-3 in Sun Belt Conference games. The Red Wolves finished tied for fourth place in the Sun Belt. This will be their fourth consecutive trip to the GoDaddy Bowl with two victories and one defeat against MAC opponents.

This will be the 14th bowl for Toledo, and fourth in the last five years. The Rockets have a 9-4 bowl record and most recently played in the 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise.
