With excitement building over next month’s once-in-a-lifetime total eclipse, we go back to the Aug. 8, 2017, solar eclipse that had international student Bhavya Band and other Rockets gathered outside of Ritter Planetarium and Observatory and McMaster Hall to gaze at the wonder in the sky through special glasses.

For Women’s History Month we remember UToledo alumna Doris Fenneberg, who, in 1946, became the first woman in UToledo’s College of Law to hold the title of instructor of law. Fenneberg also served as law librarian and continued teaching until 1969, when she was given the title of Professor Emerita for her outstanding contributions to UToledo.

Since it began in 1988, Toledo Excel, a scholarship incentive program at The University of Toledo, has been striving to prepare underrepresented students for success in college. This photo is of the first class of Toledo Excel students graduating in 1993, having joined the program in July 1989.

For this Throwback Thursday we go back to 1936, shortly after The University of Toledo’s student union, as it was called, was built. The building was later renamed Libbey Hall for Florence Scott Libbey, Jesup Scott’s granddaughter and wife of Edward Drummond Libbey.

Members of The University of Toledo - Alliance Française pose for a photo after arriving in France for a cultural visit.
