The Andersons CEO to Address Graduates at Fall Commencement Ceremonies

Pat Bowe, president and chief executive officer of The Andersons Inc., will address more than 1,500 candidates for degrees at commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Bowe brought more than three decades of experience to the agricultural sector when he took on the top role at The Andersons in 2015. The agribusiness was founded in Maumee in 1947, and today is a diversified company that conducts business in the commodity merchandising, renewables and nutrient and industrial sectors.

UToledo’s two fall 2023 commencement ceremonies are scheduled at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 16 inside John F. Savage Arena.

Bowe previously served as corporate vice president of Cargill Inc., and began his career as a cash grain merchant and a trader and analyst at the Chicago Board of Trade. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree from the Stanford Food Research Institute.

Bowe is active in the community and sits on the boards of the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts and the Toledo Museum of Art.

“I am humbled and honored to have been chosen as the fall commencement speaker for the Class of 2023 at The University of Toledo,” Bowe said. “Education has always been a cornerstone of personal and societal growth, and to address a graduating class on the brink of their exciting journeys is a privilege I sincerely appreciate. I look forward to sharing words of inspiration and wisdom with the graduates as they take this significant step into the future. It is my hope that my message will resonate with them as they embark on their remarkable adventures.”

Bowe will speak at both commencement ceremonies inside John F. Savage Arena on Dec. 16.

The morning ceremony at 9 a.m. will recognize students in the College of Arts and Letters, the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation, College of Law, College of Medicine and Life Sciences, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, College of Nursing and the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Students in the Judith Herb College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Health and Human Services and University College will be recognized at 1 p.m.

Due to capacity and fire code regulations, tickets are required for admission to commencement.
